Our first song. Entirely sampled, because our project was building on already existing work and ideas --- as does all human creation. We got plenty of crotch kicks (and other kinds, and fists, and...) as kids, even when we wouldn't or couldn't hit back. We screamed before we sang, low comedy to amuse our betters and later, ourselves. You're -- we're -- a real jackass, is what we say to that. And we pay for everything with pennies from our ass -- from both malice and necessity.

Melissa Rodenbeek and Hiram Lucke formed The Harvey Girls in August of 2003 in Lawrence, Kansas. The group combine the... melodies of bubblegum pop with experimentation in sound. Their music stands as a cross between Prince Paul's production work and the songs of the Shangri-Las. The couple moved to Portland, OR, in 2006 where they remain.
