The semi-autobiography of Melissa, The Wild Farewell goes from it's first half (Brooklyn, 1970 to 1983) to Melissa's move to Kansas (1983 to 2003). Full of choral vocals, hip hop beats, folky mandolins, and lots of other stuff. This is the band's second full-length album.

Melissa Rodenbeek and Hiram Lucke formed The Harvey Girls in August of 2003 in Lawrence, Kansas. The group combine the... melodies of bubblegum pop with experimentation in sound. Their music stands as a cross between Prince Paul's production work and the songs of the Shangri-Las. The couple moved to Portland, OR, in 2006 where they remain.
